LIANE LANGLOIS & LISA CIPOLLA Break FIM Land Speed Records at Bonneville

August 29, 2025

GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • LIANE LANGLOIS, a 50-year-old HR manager from Alberta, kicked off the record-breaking action by piloting her unfaired 2012 Triumph Rocket 111 Roadster with weighted sidecar to an FIM World Record of 136.331mph over the timed kilometer. The Bonneville regular since 2014 stayed cool under pressure, managing to maintain speed above 135mph despite traction issues on her return run to secure the milestone.
  • LISA CIPOLLA proved she’s more than just Washington State’s “world’s fastest librarian” by absolutely demolishing the competition with not one but two FIM World Records on her Kawasaki ZX6R. First, she hit 146.799mph with partial streamlining, then returned the next day to strip the bodywork and clock 135.466mph unfaired – because apparently setting one world record wasn’t enough for this Youth Services Librarian who’s already planning a nitrous-powered return next year.
  • Weather conditions that would make most riders pack up and go home couldn’t stop these women from rewriting the record books. While Chris Rivas’ attempt at the absolute Land Speed World Record was derailed by standing water that closed the International Track, LANGLOIS and CIPOLLA adapted and conquered on the shorter Mountain Track, proving that sometimes the best victories come when conditions are anything but perfect.
