FULL BIO: Hedda Hosås
Norwegian racer Hedda Hosås made the leap from working as a Nissan dealership mechanic to becoming one of motorsport’s most promising young talents in electric off-road racing. Her meteoric rise through rallycross to Extreme E and McLaren factory driver status proves that sometimes the best stories start in the most unexpected places.
EARLY YEARS
Born in Norway, Hedda is approximately 24 years old as of 2025. Her journey into motorsport began with motocross before transitioning into rallycross, where she competed in both the Norwegian Rallycross Championship and made guest appearances in the Danish Rallycross series. Before committing fully to racing, she worked as a mechanic at a Nissan dealership in Norway, developing the technical knowledge that would later prove invaluable in her racing career.
OTHER INTERESTS
While specific details about her hobbies outside of racing aren’t widely documented, her participation in rally raid and off-road racing suggests a natural affinity for outdoor and endurance challenges. Her background as a mechanic also points to a deep technical interest in automotive systems and innovation.
EARLY SUCCESS
Hedda’s talent was first spotted by manager Ian Davies during rallycross competitions in Denmark. This discovery led to her signing with Veloce Racing as a development and reserve driver. Her breakthrough moment came when she stepped in for injured drivers and demonstrated exceptional race pace and learning ability. The defining moment of her early career was achieving a podium finish in her very first race with JBXE at an Extreme E round in Sardinia, immediately establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in electric off-road racing.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

- 2023-2024: Made McLaren factory driver debut at Copper X Prix in Chile alongside Tanner Foust[1].
- 2025: Development driver for the Pioneer 25 Extreme H car (hydrogen-powered) in Extreme H series[5].

INSPIRATIONS
Ian Davies has been the most significant influence on Hedda’s career, serving as both manager and mentor after discovering her talent in Denmark. As she puts it, “Ian Davies has been really important… he helped me out as a friend and helped my family – which has been incredible”[4]. Former Veloce Racing driver Lance Woolridge also played a crucial mentoring role during her early off-road career, helping her navigate the technical and strategic aspects of Extreme E racing. She’s also drawn to the environmental mission of electric racing, particularly Extreme E’s focus on sustainability and climate awareness.
REPUTATION
Hedda has quickly established herself as a rising star and role model for young women in motorsport, particularly in Norway and off-road disciplines. She’s praised by industry insiders for her ambition, professionalism, and remarkably rapid progress. Her work ethic—demonstrated by her willingness to quit her stable mechanic job to pursue racing full-time—has earned respect throughout the paddock. Media coverage consistently highlights her as one of Norway’s biggest female motorsport talents, and her involvement in developing new hydrogen race car technology signals significant industry respect for her technical input and racing acumen.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Currently affiliated with McLaren and Veloce Racing, Hedda continues her racing commitments in Extreme E while expanding into rally raid competition. Her ultimate goal is to compete in the Dakar Rally, representing the next evolution in her off-road racing ambitions. She remains active in the development of electric and hydrogen-powered racing technology, positioning herself at the forefront of motorsport’s sustainable future.
