I met Alan Gomboso a few years ago to test a Ferrari. We suddenly realised we had actually raced against each other about fifteen years earlier — in the same hillclimb events. I had stopped for more than fifteen years after that and only did track days — first with more modest cars, and later, I was lucky enough to drive Ferraris.

Swiss racer Anny Frosio has carved an unlikely path from grassroots hillclimb events to international GT racing, proving that passion and persistence can override a late start in motorsport.
EARLY YEARS
Originally from Unterlangenegg, Switzerland, Frosio didn’t grow up dreaming of racing—she discovered it. Her motorsport awakening came in 2012 during a visit to the Nürburgring, where the raw energy of competition lit something inside her. What began as a personal pursuit on track days evolved into something far more serious. She cut her teeth in autocross and hillclimb racing, learning circuits the hard way, one corner at a time. By 2006, she was already competing in hillclimb events with a Caterham Super 7, building the foundation for what would become a full-blown racing career.
OTHER INTERESTS
Beyond the cockpit, Frosio works as a lawyer and has served as a judge—a career that demands precision, discipline, and the ability to stay cool under pressure. Sound familiar? Those same traits translate beautifully to racing, where split-second decisions and unwavering focus separate the good from the great.
EARLY SUCCESS
Frosio’s early racing years were spent in the unglamorous but character-building world of hillclimbs, where mistakes are punished immediately and spectacle comes second to skill. She gained experience through autocross and track days, steadily building confidence and racecraft. Her dream, though, was always bigger: to race a Ferrari. That dream started to materialize when she connected with the right people who believed in her potential. A team principal offered her the opportunity to compete in the German FCD Challenge, and she did everything in her power—fundraising, networking, hustling—to make it happen. That tenacity paid off.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2006: Competed in hillclimb racing with a Caterham Super 7 at events including Interlaken, Switzerland.
- 2024: Made her GT Cup Europe debut at Portimão, driving a Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO with Mertel Motorsport.
- 2024: Scored her first championship points in GT Cup Europe.
- 2024: Won the Female Trophy at the GT Cup Europe season finale, cementing her place as a rising talent in GT racing.
- 2024: Competed in rounds at Barcelona and Monza with Aggressive Team Italia.
- 2025: Continued racing in GT Cup Europe, transitioning to Lamborghini machinery.
INSPIRATIONS
Frosio’s inspiration struck during that 2012 trip to the Nürburgring—a moment that fundamentally shifted her trajectory. The visceral experience of watching racers push themselves and their machines to the edge stayed with her. From there, it became about chasing the feeling, not just the trophy. Her dream of racing a Ferrari wasn’t about brand worship; it was about proving to herself that she belonged on that level. When the opportunity came to compete in the German FCD Challenge, she seized it, fully aware that dreams don’t wait for perfect timing.
REPUTATION
Frosio has earned respect not for flashy podiums, but for consistency and professionalism. Her approach to her first GT campaign was refreshingly pragmatic: finish every stint, bring the car home in one piece, and learn something every time out. It’s the mindset of someone playing the long game. She speaks with warmth and honesty, qualities that stand out in a sport often dominated by ego. Colleagues and competitors recognize her dedication—she’s the racer who does the work, keeps her head down, and shows up prepared. Her partnership with watch brand BOMBERG further underscores her growing profile, as the company champions her pursuit of perfection both on and off the track.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Frosio’s trajectory suggests she’s far from finished. After a successful debut season in GT Cup Europe and a win in the Female Trophy, she’s continued competing into 2025, now behind the wheel of Lamborghini machinery. Her goals remain focused on progression—more seat time, sharper racecraft, and expanding her presence on the international GT stage. She’s not chasing headlines; she’s chasing mastery.
