Following a crash that marred a historic maiden race in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing world championship, Norwegian Mia Rusthen is listed as currently stable in the hospital.

Halfway through the first race, Rusthen crashed unsighted at the Misano circuit’s penultimate corner. The event raised red flags almost away, and the race was suspended and then postponed while Rusthen received medical attention at the scene.

She was reportedly struck in the head, putting her in an artificial coma, according to the state-owned station NRK in Norway. A CT scan is planned for this coming Sunday to determine the full extent of the damage.

After the remainder of the day’s activities concluded, the race was red-flagged for yet another incident involving South African rider Jessica Howden. It was then resumed for a five-lap sprint to the finish.
