Our new definition of irony: The sport whose fans threatened Katherine Legge’s life – the only woman on the grid – for getting in an accident, whose many teams and sponsors refused to speak to her directly (because she’s a woman), might be “saved”, according to the very respected Kenny Wallace, by a woman. Huh…

We may not know much, but we sure know Kenny knows what’s what.

Finally, someone in NASCAR’s old boys’ network is saying what we’ve known all along: KELLEY EARNHARDT MILLER has the executive chops to actually run things. Kenny Wallace praised her analytical thinking and proven track record managing race teams, employees, and sponsors – calling her possibly “overqualified” for NASCAR leadership.
Wallace paired KELLEY with Mark Martin as potential game-changers who could bring NASCAR back from its current drift, noting that Martin saw the sport’s problems coming years before others caught on. The veteran driver believes both have the business foundation and fresh perspective needed to navigate the sport’s challenges.
Here’s the reality check though – Wallace admits that while fans would love to see KELLEY and Martin step in, both are already successful millionaires with full plates. Even he questions whether they’d actually want to take on NASCAR’s internal politics and daily operational headaches when they’re doing just fine without that stress.
