Emma Felbermayr is an Austrian truck racer competing in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, carrying forward her family’s rich motorsport heritage while breaking barriers in a male-dominated discipline.
EARLY YEARS
Born in Wartberg an der Krems, Austria, Emma grew up immersed in motorsport culture. By age six, she was already accompanying her father, Johann Felbermayr Sr.—a legend in European truck racing with multiple championship titles—to circuits across Europe. She fondly recalls “breathing diesel fumes instead of fresh air” at races, often helping her family’s team with small tasks, developing technical skills that would serve her racing career.
EARLY SUCCESS
At seven, Emma began her journey in karting, but unlike her peers who pursued single-seaters, she was drawn to truck racing, following her father’s footsteps. Her teenage years were spent testing trucks on private tracks, defying stereotypes in the predominantly male truck racing world. This unconventional path reflected both her family legacy and personal passion for heavy machinery racing.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2020: Secured her first podium finish in the European Truck Racing Championship during the Nürburgring round, driving for Team Schwabentruck[1].
- 2023: Achieved multiple top-five finishes in the ETRC, including a podium at the Slovakia Ring, and consistently placed within the top 10 in the championship standings[2].
REPUTATION
Felbermayr has established herself as a trailblazer in a male-dominated sport, continuing the racing legacy of her father. Her technical acumen, developed from childhood immersion in her family’s racing environment, distinguishes her approach to truck racing. FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
While continuing her ETRC career with Team Schwabentruck, Emma has expressed ambitions to transition to GT3 endurance racing by 2026, targeting debuts in the ADAC GT Masters or European Le Mans Series. Her ultimate goal is competing in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, aiming to join the growing contingent of female drivers in elite endurance racing. Additionally, she plans to expand her work with “Women in Motorsport Austria,” mentoring young female racers.
