Irina's full bio:

Iryna Nadieieva is a Ukrainian motorcycle racer who broke into international competition at age 44, proving that determination and passion don’t recognize age limits—or the skepticism of an entire country.

EARLY YEARS

Born on April 4, 1980, in Ukraine, Nadieieva didn’t grow up dreaming of racing motorcycles. In fact, she didn’t even learn to ride one until she was well into her thirties. Her path to professional racing was unconventional, to say the least—especially in a country where women on motorcycles were about as common as snowfall in summer. When she finally did discover two-wheeled speed, she fell hard. But getting her family on board? That was another battle entirely.

Ukraine’s motorcycle culture wasn’t exactly welcoming to women when Nadieieva first started riding. The infrastructure, the mindset, the entire scene was built by men, for men. But she didn’t let that stop her. She found her way to a motorcycle school, learned the fundamentals, and discovered something that made her genuinely happy—even if her family wasn’t thrilled about it at first. “My family had taken it badly,” she admitted in an interview, explaining that convincing them to support her racing dreams took time and patience.

OTHER INTERESTS

Beyond racing, Nadieieva has built a career as an English tutor, teaching students online and helping them navigate the complexities of the language. It’s a profession that requires patience, precision, and the ability to break down complicated concepts—skills that translate surprisingly well to analyzing race data and improving lap times. Her ability to juggle teaching commitments with the demands of international racing shows the kind of discipline and time management that doesn’t come easy.

EARLY SUCCESS

Nadieieva’s racing career didn’t begin in childhood karting or junior championships. She started racing motorcycles in Ukraine in her late thirties, competing in a national scene that barely acknowledged women existed in the sport. Her progression was methodical: learn to ride, get faster, start competing, keep pushing. By the time she reached her early forties, she’d proven herself capable on a national level, but international competition seemed like a distant dream.

Then came the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship—WorldWCR—a series specifically designed to give female riders a platform on the global stage. Nadieieva seized the opportunity. In 2024, at 44 years old, she made her international debut in the series, competing against younger riders who’d been racing since they were kids. It was a gutsy move, and one that turned heads.

Her first season wasn’t about podiums or championships. It was about proving she belonged. Racing at iconic circuits like Misano and Jerez, Nadieieva gained experience, built confidence, and showed that late bloomers can compete with the best when they’re willing to put in the work. She finished races, collected data, and improved steadily throughout the season—all while managing a full-time job and navigating the logistical nightmare of traveling from war-torn Ukraine to race weekends across Europe.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2024: Made international racing debut in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship at age 44.
  • 2024: Competed in WorldWCR rounds at Misano and Jerez, gaining valuable experience on world-class circuits.
  • 2024: Became an inspiration for young Ukrainian women entering motorcycle racing, helping shift cultural perceptions in her home country.
  • 2025: Confirmed return to the WorldWCR series for a second season, demonstrating continued commitment to international competition.

INSPIRATIONS

Nadieieva draws motivation from an unexpected source: the young Ukrainian girls now enrolling in motorcycle schools because they saw her compete internationally. “I know many girls go to Ukrainian motorcycle schools—this inspires me every day,” she said. In a country where women in motorsport were virtually invisible just a few years ago, she’s become a pioneer by simply refusing to quit. The knowledge that her racing career is opening doors for the next generation keeps her pushing through the challenges, the skepticism, and the sheer difficulty of competing at an elite level while managing everything else in her life.

REPUTATION

Within the WorldWCR paddock, Nadieieva has earned respect for her perseverance and genuine love of racing. She’s not chasing fame or glory—she’s there because “racing motorcycles makes me happy,” as she plainly stated. That authenticity resonates. While younger riders may have more experience and faster lap times, Nadieieva brings something different: perspective, maturity, and an unshakeable determination that comes from fighting for every inch of progress.

In Ukraine, her impact extends beyond lap times and race results. She’s challenged stereotypes about age, gender, and what’s possible when you start something later in life. Ukrainian motorcycle culture is slowly changing, and Nadieieva is a big part of that shift. She’s living proof that you don’t need to start racing at six years old to make it count, and that women absolutely belong in the sport—no matter what the old guard thinks.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Nadieieva’s plans for 2025 include continuing her campaign in the WorldWCR series, with the goal of improving her results and becoming more competitive within the field. She’s focused on consistent improvement, learning the circuits better, and closing the gap to the front-runners. Beyond personal performance, she’s committed to continuing her role as a trailblazer for Ukrainian women in motorsport, using her platform to encourage more girls to take up racing and challenge the barriers that still exist in her home country.
