KATHERINE LEGGE Attempts Historic NASCAR-IndyCar Double at Indy 500 and 600

• KATHERINE LEGGE targets Memorial Day weekend history, attempting to become first woman to complete the NASCAR-IndyCar double—1,100 miles across Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600. Only Tony Stewart has finished both races completely.
• LEGGE brings credentials: holds women’s qualifying record at Indy 500, finished 22nd there in 2012, debuted NASCAR Cup last season with best finish of 17th at Brickyard 400. Competing for A. J. Foyt Racing.
• Attempt comes 50 years after JANET GUTHRIE became first woman running practice laps at Indy. Guthrie finished 15th at Charlotte’s World 600 in 1975, then made history in both Daytona and Indy.
• DANICA PATRICK finished third at 2009 Indy 500, won pole for 2013 Daytona 500. Never attempted the double. Retired 2018, was last woman in Cup Series before LEGGE’s 2025 debut.
• LEGGE warns of talent pipeline crisis, stating current prospects lack readiness. First woman winning major North American open-wheel race, serves on FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, inducted into Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame.
