Video Description from YouTube:

At 23 years old, after already spending 15 years behind the wheel, Katherine Legge thought her dream of becoming a professional racing driver might be over.

After progressing from karting into several open-wheel series in Britain, sponsorship became increasingly difficult to secure and funding her career was becoming unsustainable.

But instead of walking away, she took a chance.

Katherine turned up at the office of Kevin Kalkhoven, one of the biggest names in US motorsport, and refused to leave until she was given an opportunity. That moment became a turning point in her career.

The years that followed saw her test Formula 1 machinery, become the first woman to test an A1 Grand Prix car, and compete across Champ Car, IndyCar, endurance racing, DTM and NASCAR.

Now, in 2026, at 45 years old, she is preparing to become the first woman to attempt “The Double” — competing in both the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

Her story is a reminder that success does not have to happen in your 20s. Careers can evolve, adapt and keep growing for far longer than we sometimes expect.
