Video Description from YouTube:

On November 18, 2018, during the fourth lap of the Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 race, Sophia Flörsch suffered one of the most violent accidents in the recent history of motorsport. Despite the severity of the impact and the injuries sustained, the structural strength of the monocoque, the effectiveness of the containment barriers, and the driver restraint systems were decisive in allowing her to survive a crash with potentially fatal consequences.

The Dallara F317 she was driving was a single-seater developed under FIA regulations, designed to absorb large amounts of energy and keep its survival cell intact even under extreme loads. All of this took place in such a demanding environment as the Macau street circuit, a high-speed track where the Lisboa corner required extremely aggressive braking with virtually no margin for error.

During the fourth lap, contact with Jehan Daruvala’s car triggered an immediate loss of control. The single-seater struck the raised kerbs at the corner, was launched into the air, hit Sho Tsuboi’s car, and ultimately impacted the containment fence and the photographers’ bunker, while the energy of the crash was dissipated through the deformation of the various safety structures.

Sophia Flörsch suffered vertebral fractures between C7 and T3, while other members of the personnel present in the area were also injured. The accident tested all the safety systems involved and demonstrated the importance of modern safety engineering in motorsport.
