Video Description from YouTube:

Rally driver Maxine Wahome has been acquitted of the murder of her boyfriend and fellow rally driver, Asad Khan, after the High Court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove its case. Delivering the verdict at Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday, July 28, Justice Lilian Mutende found that the prosecution had not established a prima facie case against Wahome, bringing to a close a trial that had run for nearly three years and drawn intense national attention. Khan was pronounced dead in December 2022 following a domestic altercation with Wahome at their Kileleshwa apartment, with the defence maintaining throughout that he sustained a leg injury after kicking a glass door in anger, which later became infected and led to fatal septicemia. During the trial, an investigating officer testified that she had faced pressure from Khan’s family to charge Wahome with murder, even before toxicology reports were available, while medical evidence pointed to an untreated infection as the ultimate cause of death rather than a direct assault. With the acquittal, Wahome, celebrated as the first Kenyan woman to win the third-tier WRC Safari Rally, can now move forward after nearly three years under the shadow of a murder charge. #MaxineWahome #AsadKhan #KenyaJudiciary #KenyaNews #MilimaniLawCourts #KenyaMotorsport
