FULL BIO: Stephanie Hobeika
Stephanie Hobeika is breaking barriers as Lebanon’s rising motorsports star, transitioning from karting champion to the only woman competing in Britain’s Radical SR1 series while pursuing her engineering degree at the University of Bath.
EARLY YEARS
Born in 2003 in Baskinta, Lebanon, Stephanie’s childhood was split between Lebanon, Dubai, and England. At age 12, she first stepped into an X30 kart at a local Lebanese track—an experience that would change everything. “When I was 12, they put me in a kart, an X30 kart, and I really liked it,” she recalls. Her parents were initially hesitant about supporting racing due to the financial investment, but when a local track owner recognized her talent, one race led to another and they never stopped. By 16, she was competing in the five-round IAME Series Lebanon at RPM Karting Track.
OTHER INTERESTS
Stephanie is currently studying Design Engineering at the University of Bath, demonstrating her technical aptitude extends beyond the cockpit to understanding the mechanical intricacies of the machines she races.
EARLY SUCCESS
Her rookie karting season in Lebanon’s IAME championship proved she belonged on track—Stephanie secured a victory in the penultimate round and finished third overall. This success propelled her to Dubai for the higher-caliber 2020-21 IAME Series UAE, where she competed on prestigious circuits including Yas Marina Circuit and finished sixth overall with a best result of second place. Her move to England for university studies only intensified her racing commitment, leading to participation in the British Kart Championship’s Senior Rotax category in 2023-2024.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2019: Victory in penultimate round and 3rd place overall in Lebanese IAME Championship (rookie season)
- 2020-2021: 6th place overall in IAME Series UAE with best finish of 2nd place
- 2025: Third place podium finishes at Brands Hatch and two consecutive podiums at Silverstone in Radical Club Challenge (first car racing season)
INSPIRATIONS
While specific racing heroes aren’t documented, Stephanie credits the early encouragement from a Lebanese kart track owner as pivotal to her career development, along with her parents’ eventual support after their initial hesitation about the sport’s financial demands.
REPUTATION
Stephanie has earned recognition as a promising young talent breaking ground in British motorsport circuits. Media coverage consistently portrays her as intelligent, composed, and resilient—qualities she demonstrated when overcoming mechanical issues and race interruptions at Silverstone. “Silverstone was harder than Brands Hatch, but these podiums have a special flavor,” she said after her consecutive third-place finishes. “I struggled with all the interruptions, but I held on.” As the only woman competing in Radical SR1 in her 2025 series, she’s carving out a unique position in the sport.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Currently racing with DW Racing in the 2025 Radical Club Challenge while completing her Design Engineering degree, Stephanie has ambitious plans ahead. “With my determination and talent, I hope to continue climbing the motorsport ladder and representing Lebanon on the global stage,” she states. Her early success in car racing suggests she’s well-positioned to achieve exactly that goal.
