Emily Cotty is a rising British-New Zealand racing talent who made the leap from karting champion to Formula 4 competitor at just 15 years old. Based in West Sussex, she’s quickly earning respect for her analytical approach to racecraft and determination to improve every weekend.
EARLY YEARS
Born around 2009-2010, Emily grew up in Colworth, Chichester, West Sussex, England, with dual British-New Zealand nationality. Her first taste of karting came at a birthday party—a moment that would eventually redirect her entire athletic focus. Until 2022, she was dedicated to horse riding, but that birthday party experience planted a seed that couldn’t be ignored. When she finally made the switch to karting full-time in 2022, there was no looking back.
OTHER INTERESTS
Before racing consumed her life, Emily was an active equestrian who rode horses competitively until 2022. The transition from controlling a 1,200-pound horse to mastering a go-kart might seem dramatic, but both require split-second decision-making, balance, and an intimate understanding of your “machine”—skills that clearly translated well to the track.
EARLY SUCCESS
Emily’s karting career took off in the British Kart Championship and Super One Series, where she quickly proved she belonged. Her breakthrough came in 2024 when she claimed the Junior Rotax title in the Super One Series, winning the championship in dramatic fashion at the final round. “Winning the championship last year in Super One was quite a good result… it was a bit stressful but we came out on top,” she later reflected. That karting success opened doors to car racing, leading to her debut in British F4 at Silverstone in 2024 with Fortec Motorsports before securing a full-time seat in Italian F4 for 2025 with R-ace GP.
