GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • All five female GB4 drivers achieved career-best finishes at Oulton Park, with MEGAN BRUCE starring in fourth place after nearly claiming a podium. The KMR Sport driver gained 15 positions on lap one alone by choosing wet weather tyres, then defended brilliantly against experienced competitors before being passed only on the final lap. AVA DOBSON, HOLLY MIALL, and LILY WATKINS all secured top-10 finishes in Race 1, while CAITLYN MCDANIEL jumped from 24th to 14th for her first points-scoring result.
  • The wet weather gamble paid off spectacularly as the quintet gained a combined 58 positions in Race 1 when their tire strategy proved superior to the slick-shod front runners. BRUCE’s experience showed as she moved into a provisional podium position by lap two, while DOBSON climbed to eighth and MIALL made it three in the top-10 with a brilliant ninth-place finish. Even rookie MCDANIEL showed composure beyond her years, completing three clean races at one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.
  • The weekend wasn’t without drama, as contact between DOBSON and BRUCE in Race 2 eliminated both from contention while they were running as the fastest drivers on track. However, MIALL responded with a solid 16th place finish, WATKINS set her first fastest lap time of the season in 17th, and MCDANIEL continued her points-scoring streak with 18th. Race 3 saw more strategic brilliance as MIALL and MCDANIEL started on wets from the original grid while others scrambled for tire changes, leading to another strong showing for the female contingent.
  • The collective performance represents a significant step forward for women in GB4, with over 80 combined positions gained across the weekend and five top-10 finishes between them. DOBSON maintains her position as the highest-placed female driver in the championship standings at 18th overall, while BRUCE’s podium-challenging pace suggests the gap to the front is closing rapidly. The next round at Snetterton will test whether this breakthrough weekend was an anomaly or a sign of things to come for this talented group.
