GRRL! SUMMARY:
- ASHLEY FREIBERG turned what should have been a disaster weekend into a masterclass in racecraft, getting spun out in both Miami races through no fault of her own but clawing back over 20 positions combined. After Sabre Cook punted her from 9th to 25th in race one, she carved through the field to finish 11th overall and 9th in Pro class. When JP Martinez spun her again in race two, she went from 9th to 27th but still managed to climb back to 19th overall.
- The Kellymoss rookie’s pace was legit all weekend – she ran consistently in the top-6 during Friday practice and qualified a solid 12th overall despite a red flag disrupting her rhythm. What’s impressive is how she maintained top-10 pace even while running dead last, proving this wasn’t just opportunistic overtaking but genuine speed. Her ability to immediately bounce back from setbacks and make clean passes under pressure shows the kind of mental toughness that separates contenders from also-rans.
- While FREIBERG couldn’t convert her obvious pace into the points she deserved due to others’ mistakes, her recovery drives proved she belongs in this competitive field. Racing against more experienced drivers on a track she’d never seen before Friday morning, she consistently battled with Pro class veterans and made moves that stuck. The rookie heads to Montreal with momentum and the knowledge that when she gets a clean weekend, the results will follow her talent.
