• Vernon’s EMILY ROBERTS and KATIE MCGEACHY have earned spots on Team Canada for the 2025 Trials des Nations in Italy, joining just three Canadian women competing at the prestigious event. Both riders discovered trials riding as a way to improve their dirt bike skills and quickly fell in love with the demanding sport that requires circus-level balance and precision.
• The duo found their footing in trials riding with support from 87-year-old mentor Dave Rhodes of Outlaw Trial Sports, who’s been instrumental in their development. Despite trials being heavily male-dominated, both women emphasize the welcoming nature of the community, with ROBERTS noting that “the guys we ride with just want to see other riders thrive.”
• Now they’re facing the reality of funding their dream trip to Italy, launching fundraising efforts including a GoFundMe since Canada doesn’t provide federal support for trials athletes.
