GRRL! SUMMARY:
- KATHERINE LEGGE made history as the first woman to compete in NASCAR Cup Series since 2018, taking on the challenging Phoenix Raceway for her debut. Despite a rough start with car setup issues that left her “hanging on” in early stages, she and the Live Fast team found their groove as the race progressed, climbing as high as P28.
- The debut ended early when LEGGE spun and collected Daniel Suárez in the final stage, just as she was finding competitive pace. Her “baptism of fire” showed both the steep learning curve of Cup Series racing and her ability to adapt quickly – exactly what you’d expect from someone with her sports car pedigree tackling one of NASCAR’s most technical tracks.
- LEGGE’s performance highlighted the reality facing part-time teams where “one bad adjustment and your entire day is sunk,” but her speed progression throughout the race suggests real potential. With plans for more NASCAR starts this season, we’re hoping to see her tackle a road course next – terrain where her sports car background should give her a serious advantage over the field.
