GRRL! SUMMARY:
- 24-year-old Galway driver AOIFE RAFTERY has been selected as one of the inaugural drivers for DirtFish Rally School’s Women in Motorsport Driver programme, marking a significant milestone for women’s representation in American rallying. She’ll pilot a Subaru WRX STI through four major events, including the Olympus Rally, Oregon Trail Rally, Tour de Forest, and Mike Nagle Rally.
- RAFTERY’s debut at the Olympus Rally in April will be historic on multiple fronts – it’s her first competitive outing in a four-wheel-drive rally car and marks the first competition appearance for any DirtFish Women in Motorsport driver. The Seattle-based school, renowned as one of the world’s best rally academies, has built this programme to support women drivers in the sport.
- Beyond the wheel, RAFTERY will serve as an ambassador for the Women in Motorsport programme throughout the season, helping to inspire the next generation of female rally drivers. Her selection demonstrates how established rally schools are finally creating structured pathways for women to advance in motorsport, rather than leaving us to figure it out ourselves.
