GRRL! SUMMARY:
- ASHLEY FREIBERG delivered a masterclass in racecraft during Watkins Glen’s opening race, methodically working her way from 15th on the grid to an 11th-place finish. The Kellymoss driver capitalized on competitor mistakes and showed her overtaking skills by passing Pro-Am champion Alan Metni on the penultimate lap, setting a personal best time on the final tour.
- Race two became a frustrating reminder of racing’s cruel realities when FREIBERG was collected in a lap-one incident completely beyond her control. Patrick Mulcahy lost control on damp kerbing and spun into FREIBERG’s path, sending her machine into the inside wall before another competitor added to the chaos. She walked away unharmed, but the crash wiped out what had been a promising weekend.
- The weekend showcased FREIBERG’s continued development in the series, with consistent top-10 practice times and nearly two seconds of improvement from practice to qualifying. Her Race 1 performance demonstrated the fighting qualities that earned her a podium finish at this same track in 2024’s Porsche Sprint Challenge, proving she belongs in the hunt for overall top-10 finishes.
