GRRL! musings:

Not normally in favor of women-only racing series, F1 Academy is clearly making an incredible difference for women racers. It’s spitting out young women that are absolutely scorching back in the gender-less racing world at large. We know Chloe agrees. She set an interviewer straight about whether racing at large should be segregated, “Absolutely not! I’ve been beating boys my whole life.” (love that) Suzy Wolff and the F1 Academy are proving an incredibly important learning experience for women in motorsport to help make up the gap in experience available to women at the highest levels of motorsport.

GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • Scottish racer CHLOE GRANT made a strategic pivot from single-seaters to GT racing after growing frustrated with the financial barriers in F1 Academy and GB4. The 19-year-old from Perth was brutally honest about the money-driven nature of single-seater racing: “It doesn’t matter what you can do — the money will always win.” When an unexpected Instagram message offered her a drive in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Iberica, she initially suspected it was a scam before deciding to take the leap.
  • Partnering with Spanish teammate MARIA SANCHEZ in a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup car, GRANT immediately found success at Monteblanco. Despite finishing the final race in the pit lane due to mechanical issues, she discovered she’d earned a podium finish on her GT debut — a surreal moment that had her crossing the line from “the wrong side of the pit wall” but still celebrating third place. The transition required intensive simulator work and gym training to adapt to the completely different driving style.
  • The momentum continued at Valencia where GRANT and SANCHEZ secured proper podium finishes in races 1 and 2, both earning third place despite GRANT qualifying P5 without ABS due to mechanical issues. “Valencia was better because we actually did it properly, crossed the line how you should do it,” she explained. Looking ahead, GRANT sees endless opportunities in GT racing compared to the dead-end single-seater pathway, with plans to complete the 2025 Porsche Sprint Challenge season and potentially climb the GT ladder.
