GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • HAPPINESSA and ARIANNA CASOLI’s promising Vallelunga weekend ended in disaster when both drivers were caught up in a multi-car crash on lap two of Saturday’s race. What started as encouraging progress – with HAPPINESSA qualifying 18th and CASOLI 19th, separated by just a quarter-second in their Lady Trophy battle – turned into heartbreak when contact from Thomas Toffel sent HAPPINESSA into the barriers and CASOLI couldn’t avoid the resulting chaos.
  • The crash was a cruel blow for both women who had shown real pace throughout practice and qualifying. CASOLI, racing on home soil, was looking to build on her Lady Trophy sweep in Valencia and her strong Vallelunga record from last season. HAPPINESSA, making her circuit debut, had been gaining valuable experience through the NASCAR Euro Series Rookie Challenge and was ready to challenge CASOLI for her first Lady Trophy win of the season.
  • While both drivers walked away from the high-speed impact, CASOLI required hospital evaluation for an arm injury that will sideline her for recovery. The incident red-flagged the race and prevented either from competing in Sunday’s second race. With Brands Hatch next on the calendar for June 7-8, we’re hoping both drivers can return to continue what had been shaping up as an exciting Lady Trophy rivalry.
