GRRL! musings…
GRRL! has been a Jessica Hawkins fans since she became the latest woman to test in an F1 car for Aston Martin (if you haven’t seen the video you can watch Jess here) But be forwarned: Jess’s reaction after getting this too-rare opportunity is emotional and possibly a tear-jerker (if you have a heart, care about women, or any combo of those). It means SOOOOOOOOO much to her.
The results of her test have been a secret, but Nico Rosberg hinted during an F1 weekend broadcast they were very very good.
So to see her showing her stuff again is delightful. True GRRL! stuff.

GRRL! SUMMARY:
- JESSICA HAWKINS delivered her strongest GT World Challenge Europe performance at Barcelona’s season finale, charging from P15 to P10 in Bronze Cup during her opening stint. As the only woman in the 60-car field, she gained 13 positions on the chaotic opening lap alone, then continued her march forward with overtakes that had her matching lap times with Silver-class drivers. Her progress was halted by contact from another car that caused a puncture, dropping her a lap down, but the pace she showed proved she belongs at this level.
- The Barcelona round marked a challenging but educational debut season for HAWKINS in Europe’s premier GT3 series with Comtoyou Racing. After stepping up from British GT, her campaign was plagued by incidents not of her making – a teammate’s crash forced withdrawal at Monza, contact ended her 24 Hours of Spa debut after just two hours, and now this Barcelona incident. Yet she consistently showed speed when given clean track, with the Nürburgring delivering her first trouble-free finish at P13.
- The weekend honored the legacy of Maria de Villota, making HAWKINS’ presence as the grid’s sole female driver particularly meaningful. Her teammates Alexandre Leroy and Antoine Potty kept the #270 Aston Martin competitive throughout the three-hour race, with Potty setting the car’s fastest lap in the closing stages. The P12 Bronze Cup finish represented arguably the trio’s strongest overall performance of the season, showing the potential that mechanical issues and racing incidents had previously masked.
UPCOMING:
- 2026 GT World Challenge Europe season announcement expected
