GRRL! SUMMARY:
- KATHERINE LEGGE made NASCAR history by leading her first lap during green-flag pit stops in Saturday’s Xfinity race, running a solid 15th before spotter miscommunication between Aric Almirola’s team resulted in a multi-car crash with 13 laps remaining. Despite the disappointing end, Legge stayed upbeat, praising Jordan Anderson Racing for giving her “a great car” and expressing how much fun she was having on track.
- The crash marked LEGGE’s third consecutive DNF in NASCAR this year, following incidents at Phoenix Cup and Rockingham Xfinity races. Almirola took full responsibility, telling reporters that Legge “didn’t do anything wrong” and was “right where she needed to be” when he moved up too late after his spotter called him clear. The incident also collected Jeffrey Earnhardt and Brandon Jones, with Jones’ car nearly flipping after getting hooked from behind.
- Despite the string of bad luck, LEGGE remains optimistic about her NASCAR journey, telling reporters she was “really grateful” to be there and had “a blast” racing. She noted how well the car handled in traffic and felt they were positioned for “a great day” before the crash. Her next opportunity comes May 3rd at Texas Motor Speedway, where she’ll look to finally convert her obvious speed into a solid finish.
