KELLY CONROY Proves Moms Can Rally Race & Raise Kids Without Compromising

August 12, 2025

• KELLY CONROY is dismantling the tired narrative that motherhood means disappearing into your children. For two years, she’s been competing in RallyCross with the California Rallycross Association and Northwest Rally Association, bringing her kids along and proving you can be both a dedicated mom and a whole person pursuing your passions. Her approach challenges the cultural guilt trip that tells mothers any time or money spent on themselves is selfish – a mindset she calls complete nonsense.
• Getting into rally required more than just learning to drive fast on dirt – it meant selling the family camper to buy a race car and taking lessons at Dirtfish Rally School. KELLY had to mentally restructure what taking up space as a mother looks like, moving from making herself as small as possible to putting herself back into the family equation. The result? A healthier dynamic where her kids see her as a complete person, not just their caretaker, while learning that cars and motorsports aren’t gendered – they’re just mechanical skills anyone can master.
• What makes KELLY’s story particularly powerful is her recognition that there’s no single right way to be a racing mom. At the Northwest Rally Association’s All Women’s RallyCross event, she watched other mothers approach the sport differently – some using it as their personal escape time, others making it a family affair. She respects both approaches while fighting the assumption that moms can’t be serious competitors because they have children, proving through her own racing that you don’t have to fragment yourself to succeed in traditionally male spaces.
