GRRL! SUMMARY:
- MALLORY DOBBS delivered exactly what we’ve been waiting for all season – a breakthrough weekend that proves she belongs in the top-10 fight. After her Diva Racing team dialed in crucial front-end adjustments, she qualified 12th but clawed her way to back-to-back top-10 finishes, running the ninth-fastest lap in Race 1 and battling with the leaders in Race 2. The confidence boost couldn’t come at a better time as she heads to the season finale at Jerez, where she previously topped the women’s field in Supersport.
- SONYA LLOYD’s weekend looked rough on paper but told a completely different story for those paying attention to the details. Making her Magny-Cours debut, she immediately showed she could run with the world’s best, posting lap times that matched the leaders and making brilliant starts from 22nd on the grid. A racing incident in Race 1 cut short what was shaping up as a breakthrough ride, but even with a long-lap penalty in Race 2, she demonstrated the pace that has everyone taking notice.
- Both Americans now head to Jerez with serious momentum and familiarity advantage – DOBBS having conquered the Spanish circuit before and LLOYD returning to where she made her WorldWCR debut last year. The season finale suddenly looks like prime territory for these two to make statements about what American women can do on the world stage when given proper support and machinery that works.
