• We’re seeing another weekend where the women racers who should be headlining these stories are conspicuously absent from the coverage. While Cory West took the Super Hooligan win at The Ridge, this report reads like a who’s who of the usual suspects without acknowledging whether any women even lined up for this race.
• The results rundown gives us the top five finishers – West, James Rispoli, Jake Lewis, Dominic Doyle, and Cody Wyman – but leaves us wondering if this was truly a five-rider field or if women competitors simply didn’t make the cut for mention in what amounts to a press release disguised as race coverage.
• What we really need is transparency about who’s racing and who’s getting the support to be competitive. Super Hooligan racing has potential to be more inclusive than traditional road racing, but without proper coverage of the full field, we can’t celebrate progress or identify where barriers still exist for women trying to break through.
