This year has been a massive learning curve for me! I absolutely love the Radicals but I find I’m still getting comfortable with just how much grip they really have compared to the other cars I’ve driven.

FULL BIO: Alana Carter
Alana Carter is a trailblazing Canadian racer who went from building a roll cage with her dad to becoming the first woman and youngest driver to win the Western Cup Championship, proving that sometimes the best drivers are forged in fire rather than fancy karting programs.
EARLY YEARS
Growing up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta—a small town outside Edmonton—Alana’s racing story began not with go-karts and wealthy parents, but with a Honda Accord and a father who believed in learning by doing. At just 11 years old, she and her dad built a roll cage into that Accord and headed straight to the local asphalt oval tracks. No practice days, no training wheels—just pure trial by fire. “The first time I ever drove a race car was at the Green Flag. I had no idea what I was doing. I was just like, ‘hold it to the floor and hope you survive!’” she recalls. Financial constraints meant every racing opportunity was precious, but that scrappy beginning would prove to be exactly the foundation she needed.
OTHER INTERESTS
While Alana’s passion for racing is well-documented, details about her interests outside the cockpit remain private.
EARLY SUCCESS
By age 14, that fearless Honda Accord kid had evolved into a championship winner, capturing the Future Stock Season Champion title at Edmonton International Raceway. Her rapid progression from asphalt stock cars to dirt late models—powerful 600+ horsepower beasts that demand respect—showed she wasn’t just lucky; she was legitimately fast. The transition from oval racing to road racing brought new challenges, including some rookie mistakes like a collision at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during her Radical Cup racing debut, but each setback only fueled her determination to master every discipline thrown her way.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2014 (age 14): Future Stock Season Champion at Edmonton International Raceway
- 2019: Western Cup Championship winner—first woman and youngest driver to claim the title
- 2024: First full championship season in Radical Cup Canada
- 2025: AE Victory Racing Shootout winner
INSPIRATIONS
Alana’s primary inspiration came from her father, who not only introduced her to racing but worked alongside her to build that first race car. Beyond family influence, she draws motivation from the broader community of female racers and platforms like Formula Woman and Radical Racing series that create opportunities for women in motorsport. Her mission extends beyond personal achievement—she’s determined to pave the way for the next generation of female drivers.
REPUTATION
In Canadian racing circles, Carter is regarded as a determined barrier-breaker who chose passion over privilege. Media coverage consistently highlights her role as a pioneer for women in motorsports, emphasizing her rapid adaptability in transitioning between racing disciplines. Her commitment to continuous improvement is evident in her approach to new challenges: “I pushed hard with my physical and mental training over the holidays, and on the simulator” before her AE Victory Racing Shootout win. Industry observers note her ability to learn quickly while maintaining the hunger that drove her from that first terrifying lap in a Honda Accord to competing in high-grip, sophisticated race cars like the Radicals.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Currently competing in Radical Cup Canada while building professional relationships within the racing community, Alana continues her progression toward becoming a full-time professional racer. Her goals center on advancing her career while actively supporting female presence in motorsport. “I want to encourage everyone – regardless of age or gender – to stay competitive no matter what challenges stand ahead,” she states, making it clear that her future success will be measured not just in trophies, but in the doors she opens for others.
