This year has been a massive learning curve for me! I absolutely love the Radicals but I find I’m still getting comfortable with just how much grip they really have compared to the other cars I’ve driven.

Alana Carter is a Canadian racing driver from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, who has fought her way from dirt tracks to international road racing through sheer grit, business savvy, and a willingness to take every opportunity—even if it means stretching the truth about her age.

EARLY YEARS

Racing was literally in her blood. Carter’s parents met at the track, and her father was a dirt track racer himself. Growing up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, she was surrounded by the smell of fuel and the roar of engines from a young age. Her racing career started on asphalt stock cars before she transitioned to dirt late models, following in her family’s footsteps and cutting her teeth on oval racing. It was the kind of upbringing where the question wasn’t if she’d race, but when.

OTHER INTERESTS

Carter isn’t just fast behind the wheel—she’s sharp off it, too. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a marketing degree, and she’s put that education to work managing her own racing career like the business it is. She handles everything from finance and accounting to sponsorship and marketing, a necessity in a sport where the most talented drivers still go nowhere without funding. Her business acumen has become as much a part of her racing toolkit as her ability to shave tenths off a lap time.

EARLY SUCCESS

In 2019, she became the youngest driver—and the first female—to win the Western Cup Memorial Championship, a milestone that put her on the map in Canadian oval racing. But Carter had her sights set beyond ovals. In 2022, she made a bold decision to move across Canada and pivot entirely to road racing, entering through the Formula Woman competition—an international shootout in the United Kingdom designed to identify emerging female talent. She won. That victory earned her a spot racing select rounds in the 2023 British GT Cup Championship, where she and fellow Formula Woman winner Sara Misir gave the Lotus Emira GT4 its UK competition debut, earning a best finish of fifth at Donington Park.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2019: Became the first female and youngest driver to win the Western Cup Memorial Championship[1].
  • 2022: Won the Formula Woman international competition, earning a seat in the 2023 British GT Cup Championship[2].
  • 2023: Competed in select rounds of the British GT Cup Championship in a Lotus Emira GT4, achieving a best finish of fifth place[3].
  • 2024: Competed in the FEL Motorsports Emzone Radical Cup Canada, driving for Radical Academy, including a standout performance at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto Grand Prix[4].
  • 2025: Won the inaugural AE Victory Racing driver shootout and joined the team’s developmental program[5].
  • 2025: Became part of the first-ever all-female driver lineup in WRL history to earn a GTO class podium, racing alongside Sarah Montgomery and Ashley Freiberg[6].
  • 2025: Made her SRO TC America debut at Barber Motorsports Park with Ricca Autosport, finishing second in race one in a Hyundai Elantra N1 TC EVO—without any prior testing[7].
  • 2025: Finished third in the WRL championship with AE Victory Racing[8].

INSPIRATIONS

Her inspiration didn’t come from posters on the wall—it came from the garage. Carter’s father and her family’s deep involvement in racing shaped her path from the start. She’s spoken about how racing is a family legacy for her, not just a career choice. Her advice to other young women? “Don’t undervalue yourself.” She knows firsthand what it takes to fight for a seat, and she’s not shy about telling women to recognize their worth and demand it.

REPUTATION

Carter is known for being as strategic off the track as she is fast on it. She’s a two-time driver shootout winner and an FEL Motorsports scholarship recipient, benefiting from world-class mentorship through AE Victory Racing’s developmental program and personalized coaching from Dr. Jacques Dallaire. She’s also earned a reputation for her relentless work ethic and her willingness to take risks—like the time she allegedly conned her way into road racing by lying about her age. She’s a certified Jaguar Track Specialist and has proven herself in everything from electric race cars to touring cars. Competitors respect her not just for her talent, but for her hustle.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

As of 2025, Carter is racing with AE Victory Racing in the World Racing League alongside Erin Vogel and Sarah Montgomery, and she’s making waves in the SRO TC America series. She’s described herself as a “working driver,” and she means it—she’s constantly looking for the next opportunity to prove herself. With her combination of talent, business savvy, and sheer determination, she’s positioning herself as one of Canada’s brightest rising stars in professional motorsport. Where she goes next is anyone’s guess, but one thing is certain: she’s not done climbing.
