FULL BIO: Alexandra Mohnhaupt
Alexandra Mohnhaupt made motorsports history as the first woman to win a FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 race anywhere in the world, breaking barriers in a sport where female victories remain extraordinarily rare. The Mexican-German racer’s groundbreaking achievement came during a dominant weekend performance that announced her as a serious contender on the international racing stage.
EARLY YEARS
Born in Puebla, Mexico around 1999-2000 to a family with both German and Mexican roots, Alexandra’s racing destiny was sealed at age nine during what should have been a casual go-kart session. “As soon as I felt the motor rumbling and the wind in my hair, they couldn’t drag me off,” she recalls of that pivotal moment. The bicultural environment of her upbringing provided access to both Mexican motorsport facilities and European racing traditions, setting the stage for an international career. After that first taste of speed, she was practically racing every weekend, transforming from curious kid to karting competitor almost overnight.
OTHER INTERESTS
Racing appears to consume Alexandra’s focus entirely, with no documented interests outside motorsports found in available records.
EARLY SUCCESS
Alexandra’s transition from karting to single-seaters was swift and impressive. At just 16, she made her NACAM Formula 4 debut in 2015, immediately proving she belonged by finishing 14th overall with eight top-ten finishes and securing two sixth-place results at Pegaso, including one pole position. The following year brought an ambitious leap to British Formula 4, where she tackled six races at challenging circuits like Knockhill and Snetterton. While the competition was fierce and the tracks unforgiving, she steadily improved, achieving an 11th-place finish at Knockhill. “There are more difficult tracks in Great Britain than in Mexico, also the level of competition is higher,” she acknowledged, but embraced the challenge as essential development. Returning to NACAM F4 in 2017, she finished seventh overall with five top-five finishes and came tantalizingly close to a podium at Toluca.

INSPIRATIONS
Alexandra’s inspiration stems directly from that transformative first go-kart experience and the structured progression path from Formula 4 through Formula 3 toward Formula 1. Rather than following specific racing heroes, she’s motivated by the challenge itself—adapting her driving style to master different cars and circuits across continents. The transition to Formula 3 particularly energized her: “They’re very different because there is more ‘aero’ and more downforce… the g-force makes it more complicated to drive, and it’s also faster, but I like it.” Her drive extends beyond personal achievement to pioneering change for future generations of female racers.
REPUTATION
Alexandra is celebrated as a trailblazer whose historic Formula 4 victory opened doors for women in motorsports worldwide. Her breakthrough weekend at Autodromo Miguel E. Abed—winning race one from third on the grid and taking race two after rivals retired—demonstrated both racecraft and composure under pressure. “I feel very happy with the victory… it was very hard to get the chequered flag, but we did the job well with the team,” she said with characteristic modesty. Media coverage consistently highlights her pioneering status while recognizing her competitive spirit and determination to race internationally despite significant challenges. She’s known for her commitment to supporting other female racers, stating “I want to help girls and make it easier for them to be in this sport.” No controversies or conflicts have marked her career, with industry reception remaining positive and supportive of her groundbreaking achievements.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Alexandra’s ultimate ambition remains reaching Formula 1, having specifically raced in Europe to increase her visibility on the international stage. Her 2023 return to NACAM Formula 4 with Ram Racing marked the beginning of what she hopes will be a sustained comeback after her five-year hiatus. While specific 2025 plans aren’t documented, her strategic approach of building experience across multiple continents and series suggests continued pursuit of higher-level opportunities that could eventually lead to her Formula 1 dream.
