Life’s a racetrack— fast, wild, and full of surprises. Trust your crew, stay the course and keep chasing those checkered flags
Amanda Busick has established herself as one of motorsport’s most trusted reporters, covering the high-octane world of NHRA drag racing for FOX Sports while advocating for women in racing through hosting the Women With Drive Summit and Women Shifting Gears Podcast.
EARLY YEARS
Born on November 7, 1986, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Amanda grew up immersed in motorsports culture thanks to her family’s involvement in dirt racing. The Busick household placed such value on sports that family tradition allowed school absences only for special sporting events like the ACC tournament and NC State Fair. Her mother, Donna, instilled in her the determination that would later define her career path. Amanda’s academic ambition was evident early on—she earned enough credits to graduate a semester early from Northeast Guilford High School before attending North Carolina State University, where she pursued what she called a “life-changing” degree in Entrepreneurship.
EARLY SUCCESS
After graduating from NC State’s Poole College of Management in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration, Amanda entered the workforce during the Great Recession. She demonstrated remarkable resilience, working multiple jobs including waitressing and bartending while pursuing opportunities in television. Her broadcasting career began not in motorsports but with Time Warner Cable Sports covering high school athletics in late 2014. The pivotal moment came in 2015 when NHRA vice-president Ken Adelson contacted her about a potential role. Though relatively new to drag racing, she committed fully to understanding the sport—spending three months in intensive research and enrolling at Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School. Her dedication paid off when, after impressing executives with her reporting at the Dallas National event, she was offered a permanent multimedia reporter position later that year.

REPUTATION
In the high-pressure world of motorsports media, Amanda has carved out a distinct reputation for her trustworthiness and ability to connect with drivers on a personal level. Her position as the “Top End” pit lane reporter for NHRA places her in the unique situation of interviewing drivers immediately after they’ve experienced the adrenaline rush of racing at over 300 mph—a role requiring both technical knowledge and emotional intelligence. What truly sets her apart is the genuine rapport she’s established with competitors, allowing her to share more intimate aspects of their racing journeys than most journalists can access. Beyond her broadcasting skills, she’s become known as a passionate advocate for women in motorsports, using her platform to amplify female voices in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Her integrity and engaging storytelling style have made her a respected figure across multiple racing disciplines.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
As she enters her tenth season covering the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series for FOX Sports in 2025, Amanda aims to continue expanding her global motorsports presence. She plans to maintain her roles with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series while enhancing her coverage of international sports car racing. Her partnership with Ferrari’s North American Challenge series will see her serving as pit lane reporter and hosting the prestigious Concorso Ferrari during Monterey Car Week at Pebble Beach. With plans to cover major endurance races including the Suzuka 1000km in Japan, her primary goal is to bridge her trackside reporting with more comprehensive global motorsports coverage, helping to elevate the visibility of diverse racing disciplines worldwide. Rather than pursuing racing herself, she remains focused on growing as a versatile motorsports broadcaster who can seamlessly transition between different series and events.
