we’ll have our elbows out and be ready to push like we always do
Ashton Harrison is a groundbreaking female racer from Georgia who made history as the first woman to win a Lamborghini World Finals race and has become a champion in the GT World Challenge America series.
EARLY YEARS
Harrison’s racing journey began unusually – after struggling with her driver’s test and failing her learner’s permit test four times at age 16. Her growing “addiction” to speed led to numerous speeding tickets that nearly cost her license, prompting her to attend the Bondurant Racing School in Arizona where she obtained her SCCA license and discovered her passion for competitive motorsports.
EARLY SUCCESS
Unlike many professionals who start with go-karts, Ashton began with a race-prepped C5 Corvette Z06 before wisely transitioning to a 2002 1.8-liter Spec Miata built by Racing Analytics. After earning her SCCA license, she competed throughout the southeast region before joining the Mazda MX-5 Cup, which she describes as offering “the closest racing in the U.S.” Her career gained significant momentum after completing the Honda Performance Development Driver Academy in 2021, where comprehensive training prepared her for future championship success.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2018: Competed in the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup, showcasing impressive passing skills at Road America[2].
- 2021: Became the first female to win the Lamborghini World Finals race[5].
- 2022: Made her SRO debut at the 8 Hours of Indianapolis, claiming both class and overall victory[1].
- 2022: Clinched the ProAm championship title in GT World Challenge America and earned Rookie of the Year honors[1].
- 2024: Secured a top ten in the AM standings of North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo and achieved double top-ten finishes at the Lamborghini World Finals in Jerez[4].
REPUTATION
Ashton has earned respect throughout the racing community for her exceptional adaptability, demonstrated by her successful transition from 1.6-liter MX-5 Cup cars to 610-hp V-10 Lamborghinis. Her 2019 victory at Jerez Circuit as the first female World Finals winner cemented her reputation as a trailblazer in motorsports. Beyond competition, Harrison contributes to the sport as an instructor at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, where she educates new drivers, further enhancing her standing as both a skilled competitor and dedicated ambassador for racing.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Looking ahead, the 29-year-old racer from Atlanta remains committed to endurance racing at the highest levels. Her partnership with Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series alongside Graham Doyle forms the foundation of her aspirations for multiple podiums and victories in future World Finals events. As a Honda Performance Development Junior Factory Driver with strong sponsorship backing from Harrison Contracting Company and PPG Paints, she is well-positioned to continue her upward trajectory in international motorsports.
