Chiara's bio:

Swiss racing driver Chiara Bättig is making waves in junior motorsport as a three-time Swiss Karting Champion and Red Bull Junior Team member who became the first woman in nearly 30 years to secure pole position in the FIA OK European Championship.

EARLY YEARS

Born on March 21, 2010, in Zürich, Switzerland, Chiara grew up in a family with absolutely zero motorsport background. No racing uncles, no karting dad, no weekends at the track growing up—just a kid who somehow caught the bug and had to fight like hell to even get seat time. Coming from outside the racing bubble meant she didn’t have the built-in infrastructure most young drivers take for granted. Every lap, every championship, every step up the ladder has been earned the hard way.

From the moment she started competing in karting, Chiara proved she wasn’t just there to make up the numbers. She had speed, racecraft, and the kind of determination that catches people’s attention—especially in a sport that still raises eyebrows when a girl shows up ready to race.

OTHER INTERESTS

When she’s not strapped into a race car, Chiara is the kind of athlete who doesn’t sit still. She swims, skis, snowboards, cycles, plays tennis, and goes wakeboarding—basically, if it involves speed, balance, or adrenaline, she’s in. It’s not just about staying fit; it’s about feeding that competitive fire that burns whether she’s on four wheels or two.

She’s also surprisingly social for someone with such a laser-focused racing schedule. Chiara regularly coaches aspiring racers at her local kart track in Wohlen, Switzerland, passing on what she’s learned to the next generation. She’s outgoing, loves interacting with people, and clearly gets a kick out of helping younger drivers navigate the same challenges she’s faced.

EARLY SUCCESS

Chiara’s karting résumé is the kind that makes team managers take notice. She claimed her first Swiss Karting Championship title in the OK Junior category in 2022, becoming the youngest Swiss OKJ Champion ever. Then she did it again in 2023. And again in 2024. Three consecutive Swiss Championships—a feat no one else has managed in that category.

But domestic dominance was just the beginning. In 2021, at just 11 years old, she became the youngest candidate in the FIA Women in Motorsport’s Girls on Track – Rising Stars program. She made it to the final four, holding her own against older, more experienced competitors. That same year, she caught the eye of Alpine’s Rac(H)er program, an all-female karting initiative launched to support up-and-coming talent. Being part of that program meant access to better equipment, coaching, and visibility—critical resources for a driver without family money backing her career.

By 2024, Chiara had added the X30J Swiss Championship to her trophy cabinet and was competing at the highest levels of international karting, including the FIA Karting European Championship and the Champions of the Future series. Her pace was undeniable, her racecraft sharp, and her consistency impressive.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2021: Youngest candidate to reach the final four in FIA Women in Motorsport’s Girls on Track – Rising Stars program[1].
  • 2022: Won Swiss Karting Championship in OK Junior category, becoming the youngest Swiss OKJ Champion ever[2].
  • 2023: Won second consecutive Swiss Karting Championship in OK Junior[3]; selected for Alpine F1 Team’s Rac(H)er all-female karting program[4].
  • 2024: Won third consecutive Swiss Karting Championship in OK Junior—the only driver to achieve this feat[5]; won X30J Swiss Championship[6].
  • 2025: Secured pole position in FIA OK European Championship, becoming the first female driver in nearly 30 years to do so[7]; announced as Red Bull Junior Team member[8]; made car racing debut in F4 Saudi Arabian Championship in August[9].
  • 2026: Signed with Hitech Grand Prix for full season of FIA British F4 Championship[10].

REPUTATION

Bättig has built a reputation as a driver who shows up when it matters. That historic pole position in the FIA OK European Championship wasn’t a fluke—it was the result of relentless pace, tactical awareness, and the guts to go wheel-to-wheel with the best karters in the world. Her consistency across multiple seasons of Swiss championships proves she’s not just fast on a good day; she’s fast every day.

Her selection for the Red Bull Junior Team in 2025 put her in rarified air. Red Bull doesn’t hand out those spots like party favors—this is the program that produced Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. For Chiara, it was validation that her talent transcends gender, nationality, or background. She earned that seat through results, plain and simple.

In the paddock, she’s known for being approachable and down-to-earth despite the pressure of being one of the few women racing at this level. She’s not trying to be a spokesperson or a trailblazer—she just wants to race and win. But whether she likes it or not, her presence matters. Every time she qualifies on pole or battles for a podium, she’s proving what’s possible.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Chiara made her car racing debut in August 2025 at the F4 Saudi Arabian Championship as preparation for her first full season in single-seaters. In 2026, she’ll compete in the Wera Tools FIA British F4 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix, one of the strongest teams in the series. British F4 is a proving ground—drivers who excel there move up to F3, then F2, and if they’re good enough, Formula 1.

And that’s exactly where Chiara is headed. She’s stated publicly that her ultimate goal is to reach Formula 1 and become world champion. Not compete in F1—become champion. It’s the kind of bold ambition that might sound naive coming from a 15-year-old stepping into her first F4 season, but considering what she’s already accomplished, it doesn’t feel far-fetched. She’s got the talent, the backing, and the mentality. Now it’s about putting in the laps, learning the craft of car racing, and continuing to deliver results.

British F4 will be the ultimate test. The competition is fierce, the calendar is packed, and the learning curve from karts to cars is steep. But if anyone’s ready for it, it’s Chiara. She’s been underestimated before. She’s used to proving people wrong.
