Cindi Lux is a 14-time road racing champion who turned her family’s racing DNA into a powerhouse career behind the wheel, racking up more than 95 victories, 170+ podium finishes, and 55+ pole positions since she started competing in 1988.

EARLY YEARS

Born February 13, 1962, Cindi came from serious racing royalty. Her grandfather competed in a Chrysler New Yorker Coupe in the 1953 Pan-American Road Race in Mexico—the kind of wild, legendary event that separated the brave from the reckless. Her father, Dick Hahn, owned and raced Ferrari 250 Testarossas in the early 1960s under the team name Scuderia Hahndawg, with driver Jerry Grant at the wheel. Her two older brothers also raced, one winning two National Drag Racing Events in 1978. Racing wasn’t just a hobby in the Hahn household—it was the family business.

But Cindi didn’t start out gunning for checkered flags. Instead, she spent her youth showing horses and competing in skiing, martial arts, and tennis. Racing came later, and when it did, it came hard.

OTHER INTERESTS

Before she ever strapped into a race car, Lux was an athlete through and through—just not on four wheels. She grew up showing horses and got into competitive sports like skiing, martial arts, and tennis. It wasn’t until her twenties that she made the jump to motorsports, swapping racquets and reins for roll cages and racing slicks.

EARLY SUCCESS

Her first race car was a Dodge Shelby Charger, and let’s just say it didn’t go smoothly. At Riverside Raceway, she got lapped by the second lap—a brutal wake-up call. The factory Shelby team was racing the same car, which only made the sting sharper. But Lux didn’t quit. She kept at it, learning the craft one corner at a time.

By 1992, she’d proven herself enough to earn SCCA’s Outstanding Driver award. She started putting up serious numbers in SCCA National Club Racing, capturing her first championships and establishing herself as someone who could not only compete but win—consistently.

Lux’s passion for racing runs deep, and it’s clear that her family laid the foundation. Growing up surrounded by stories of her grandfather’s Pan-American runs and her father’s Ferrari team gave her both respect for the sport and the guts to get in the car herself. Despite starting later than most, she found her calling and never looked back. As she’s said herself: “Sometimes I really ask myself, ‘Why do I keep racing?’ Well, it’s because I have so much passion and respect towards the sport. I love it.”

REPUTATION

Lux is known for being fast, fearless, and dedicated. She’s built a reputation not just as a competitor, but as a professional who shows up, does the work, and wins. She and her husband Fred—a seasoned engineer and former crew chief for Mitsubishi’s racing program—run Lux Performance Group, LLC together out of Aloha, Oregon. The team took a break from the national stage after 2019 due to COVID restrictions but returned in 2022, proving they still had plenty of fight left.

Beyond racing, Lux has spent more than 15 years coaching and teaching both amateur and professional drivers. She’s worked with schools like Panoz Racing School at Texas Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta, Fast Lane Racing School at Willow Springs Raceway, and the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg. She’s also a brand ambassador and advocate for women in motorsports, involved with Women in Motorsports North America and consistently highlighting the evolving landscape for female racers.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

In 2025, Lux returned to her hometown roots to compete in the 64th running of the Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway. She piloted the No. 45 Black Rock Coffee Bar Dodge Viper ACR-X in the Rose Cup 2 (RC2) class, bringing her career full circle back to the track where she made history as the first woman to podium in Rose Cup competition.
