Calgary-based motocross racer Danika White is a fierce competitor in Canada’s women’s motocross scene and co-founder of SurfinBerms, a female-owned business dedicated to growing opportunities for women in the sport.
EARLY YEARS
Born on August 10th, 1992, White grew up with a competitive edge that extended across multiple sports. She had always competed against guys in other athletic pursuits, which made the transition to motocross—where skill classes cater to every rider—a natural fit. After high school, she pursued university studies and then culinary education before finding her true calling on two wheels. White works in Accessories at Cycle Works Foothills in Calgary, keeping her close to the sport even off the track.
OTHER INTERESTS
Beyond racing, White is an avid motorsports enthusiast with over 20 years of experience in the industry. She co-hosts the “Bikes, Berms & Brews” podcast with Jessica Longname, where the two share their common passion for two-wheeled adventures. White is also a motorcycle coach based in Indian Springs, Montana, willing to travel up to 5,000 miles to work with new dirt riders, youth, and aspiring motocross racers. Her coaching expertise spans dirt bike fundamentals and race preparation, making her a resource for women looking to break into the male-dominated sport.
EARLY SUCCESS
White credits her introduction to motocross to the welcoming atmosphere she found in the riding community. Being surrounded by positive, supportive people who genuinely love dirt bikes made the sport irresistible. She quickly established herself as a consistent competitor in the Canadian Women’s West Series and WMX West championships, regularly landing in the top tier of results. Her racing journey has taken her across Canada and into the United States, including events like Babes in the Dirt 7 at Quail Canyon Motocross and off-road exploring at Hungry Valley SVRA in Gorman, California.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2016: Co-founded SurfinBerms with Meagan Messinbird to raise funds and improve prize payouts for the Women’s Motocross National Series[1].
- 2023: Competed in the Calgary MX National, finishing 14th in PreMix West Points[2].
- 2024: Finished 16th overall in WMX West Top 10 standings[3].
- 2025: Competed in Rounds 3 & 4 of the Canadian Women’s West Series Finale in Cold Lake, Alberta, riding for Troy Lee Designs[4].
INSPIRATIONS
White has become an inspiration herself within the Canadian motocross community. Fellow racer Shaye Strain has publicly stated that White “has contributed to the moto community and inspired so many female riders to get on a bike.” Her commitment to creating opportunities for women through SurfinBerms—which evolved from a one-off fundraiser into a full-fledged business supporting the growth of women’s motocross—demonstrates her dedication to leaving the sport better than she found it.
REPUTATION
Known for her consistency and grit, White is respected as both a competitor and an advocate. She’s earned RTR Performance Holeshot Awards and regularly finishes in competitive positions against strong fields. Her racing resume includes campaigns on Husqvarna machinery, including the 2023 FE 501 and various models in national competition. What sets her apart isn’t just her racing—it’s her willingness to give back. Through coaching, podcasting, and building infrastructure for women’s racing, White has established herself as a leader who understands that growing the sport means creating pathways for the next generation.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
White continues to expand SurfinBerms’ reach and impact within women’s motocross while maintaining her racing schedule in Canadian national events. Through her coaching practice and podcast platform, she’s positioned to influence the sport’s growth from multiple angles. Her business and media ventures suggest a long-term vision that extends beyond her own racing career—one focused on building sustainable opportunities for women in motorsports.
