Emma's bio:

Swedish racer Emma Svensson carved out a brief but determined motorsports career in karting and Formula STCC Nordic before pivoting to conquer some of the world’s highest peaks—proving that the drive to compete doesn’t disappear, it just finds new mountains to climb.

EARLY YEARS

Emma’s racing roots stretch back to 2006, when she started competing in Swedish karting championships. By 2009, she was running in the Junior 60 category with Karlskoga Motor Förening, grinding through the grassroots karting circuit that served as Sweden’s proving ground for young racing talent. The karting years—spanning 2006 through 2011—were about learning racecraft, developing instincts, and understanding what it takes to fight for position when everyone around you wants the same piece of tarmac.

OTHER INTERESTS

While motorsports grabbed her early attention, Emma would later become a multi-disciplinary force in photography and adventure guiding. She founded Rockfoto, which grew into Scandinavia’s largest concert photography agency, and established herself as a photographer specializing in shooting people under tough conditions with little time—skills honed in fast-paced environments where precision matters. Her passion for the outdoors led her to become a certified International Mountain Leader (UIMLA), AMGA alpine skills graduate, and SFLO-certified mountain leader with avalanche training. She co-founded Topo Travel with Andreas Bengtsson, a guiding company offering climbing and skiing expeditions worldwide. Emma also co-founded Hashiriya Ladies, a community aimed at empowering women in automotive and motorsports culture. Her photography work has been featured in exhibitions like “ICONS,” a collaboration exploring the right to exist through portraits of people with Down’s syndrome, shown at venues including Fotografiska and internationally in Switzerland.

EARLY SUCCESS

In 2010, Emma competed in the Swedish Karting Championship Junior 60 class, finishing 16th overall with Karlskoga MF, piloting a Birel chassis powered by Parilla. She continued karting through 2011 before making the leap to cars. Her most notable racing stint came in 2016 when she entered the Formula STCC Nordic series with LL Motorsport, driving car #76. She competed in 14 races across multiple Scandinavian circuits, battling alongside drivers like Linus Lundqvist, Rasmus Ericsson, and Amalie Wichmand. Though she didn’t score wins or podiums, she gained valuable wheel-to-wheel experience in a competitive single-seater championship.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  • 2006-2011: Competed in Swedish karting championships, building foundational racing skills in Junior 60 category[1].
  • 2010: Finished 16th in Swedish Karting Championship Junior 60 with Karlskoga MF[2].
  • 2016: Raced full Formula STCC Nordic season with LL Motorsport, entering 14 races[3].
  • 2025: Made guest appearance in Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia driving #718 Porsche after a racing hiatus, working to secure budget for potential full 2026 season[4].
  • Undated: Founded Rockfoto, which became Scandinavia’s largest concert photography agency[5].
  • Undated: Climbed the highest peak in every European country—49 summits total—completing the “Crown of Europe” challenge[6].
  • Undated: Completed four of the Seven Summits (highest peaks on each continent)[7].
  • Undated: Co-founded Topo Travel, adventure guiding company specializing in climbing and skiing expeditions[8].

INSPIRATIONS

Emma’s journey into automotive passion was shaped by a combination of early karting experiences and later involvement with Hashiriya Ladies, where she collaborated with fellow enthusiasts to create a supportive community for women in motorsports. Her transition from racing to mountaineering appears driven by a similar hunger for challenge and adventure—exchanging apex speeds for alpine summits, but keeping that competitive fire burning. She’s openly discussed her mission to empower female climbers to explore the outdoors together, creating the same kind of inclusive space in mountaineering that she advocated for in motorsports.

REPUTATION

In racing circles, Emma is remembered as a determined competitor who tackled both karting and formula car racing in Scandinavia’s tight-knit motorsports community. Her 2025 guest appearance in Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia showed she hasn’t lost the itch to compete, even after years away from the cockpit. Outside racing, she’s built a formidable reputation as a photographer known for handling difficult shooting conditions and tough subjects with flexibility and skill. As a mountain guide and expedition leader, she’s respected for her technical certifications and her ability to lead all-women expeditions to demanding destinations like Aconcagua and Everest Base Camp. Her multi-faceted career—racer, photographer, adventurer, guide, entrepreneur—paints a picture of someone who refuses to be boxed into a single identity.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Emma has been accepted into the AMGA Alpine Guide course for 2025, continuing her progression toward full alpine guiding certification. She’s actively working to raise sufficient budget for more racing outings and a potential full 2026 season in Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia, suggesting the racing chapter isn’t quite closed yet. She’s also pursuing a project to climb all 4,000-meter peaks in the Alps with only female climbing partners, a continuation of her commitment to empowering women in outdoor adventure. Her 2025 goals span three categories—though the specific details remain her own—indicating she’s juggling photography, guiding work, and racing ambitions simultaneously.
