Jessica Edgar is a British motorsport racer born into a family with deep racing roots dating back to 1960, currently competing in F1 Academy with Rodin Motorsport.
EARLY YEARS
Born into a motorsport dynasty, Jessica’s family tradition began when her great-grandfather Iredale Edgar bought his first kart in 1960. Her father Jason Edgar, owner of J Edgar Nissan in Cumbria, is a multiple British Karting Championship winner himself. The racing heritage runs through generations of her family, including her cousin Jonny Edgar who has competed in FIA F3 and won the F4 championship. As Jessica herself puts it, “This sport runs through my veins,” highlighting the profound impact her family’s legacy has had on her career choice.
EARLY SUCCESS
Jessica began her racing journey in 2010, competing in her first Bambino kart race at Fulbeck. By 2012, she secured second place in the Bambino ‘O’ Plate at Rowrah before moving to the Cadet Class in 2013. Her progression was rapid, becoming Rowrah Club Champion in the IAME Cadet category by 2017. In 2018, she transitioned to Mini X30, securing multiple race victories including first places at PFI and Shenington in the Super One championship. Her impressive 2019 season saw her finish second in the Motorsport UK Kartmasters Grand Prix and fourth in the British Kart Championship, establishing her as a promising talent ready for the leap to single-seater racing.
