Julie Amblard is a successful French rally co-driver whose career bridges family tradition and professional achievement, currently competing with the pioneering Iron Dames all-female racing team alongside driver Sarah Rumeau in both the WRC2 World Championship and French Rally Championships.
EARLY YEARS
Born and raised in Brouzet-lès-Alès near Avignon, France, Julie grew up immersed in rally racing culture. Her mother served as a co-driver for over 20 years, providing Julie with early exposure to motorsports and rally competitions. At just 16 years old, she took over her mother’s co-driving duties alongside her father, effectively “stealing” her mother’s seat and marking the beginning of her own rally career. This family affair started in 2010 when she began accompanying her father at regional and national rally events, transforming what might have been a hobby into the foundation of her professional motorsport journey.
EARLY SUCCESS
Julie’s talent became evident early in her career, culminating with her victory in the 2018 FFSA Junior Rally Co-Driver selection – a prestigious recognition that opened doors to more competitive opportunities. This achievement was particularly meaningful as the award was presented by Julien Ingrassia, the celebrated navigator for multiple-time world champion Sébastien Ogier, signaling her potential within elite rallying circles. Following this success, she began competing in multiple French Championship rallies, building experience and reputation in the national rally scene before forming a key partnership with driver Sarah Rumeau in 2021, setting the stage for their future campaigns.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2018: Winner of the FFSA Junior Rally Co-Driver selection, a prestigious recognition of emerging rally talent in France.
- 2023: Selected as route note car co-driver for eight-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Ogier within the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team.
- 2023: Debuted as Ogier’s gravel crew navigator during the Croatia rally.
- 2024: Became part of the first all-female team in 35 years to finish in the top five in the French Rally Championship.
- 2024: Joined the all-female Iron Dames motorsport team to compete in French Tarmac and Gravel Rally Championships with Sarah Rumeau.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
For 2025, Julie and driver Sarah Rumeau are embarking on an ambitious campaign that includes the full WRC2 World Championship alongside 13 rounds of the French Gravel and Tarmac Rally Championships. Their schedule features iconic global events including the Monte Carlo Rally, Rally of Portugal, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Finland’s ultra-fast forest stages, the Central Europe Rally, and the debut WRC round in Saudi Arabia. Competing in a Citroën C3 Rally2 prepared by Sarrazin Motorsport and supported by the Iron Dames project and sponsor NTN Europe, Julie’s long-term aspiration remains centered on breaking ground as part of women-led teams at the highest levels of rallying, reinforcing the presence and competitiveness of women in world rally sport.
