FULL BIO: Lachlan Turner
Lachlan “Lala” Turner is a 17-year-old American motocross prodigy who has dominated the WMX Championship for two consecutive years despite overcoming serious injuries that typically end careers.
EARLY YEARS
Born around 2007 or 2008, Turner began racing at a young age, quickly ascending through girls and youth categories in motocross. She has at least one older brother and demonstrated early mechanical aptitude alongside her natural racing talent. By age 17, she was already winning championships in Girls (11-16) age groups, showing remarkable progression through the amateur ranks.
OTHER INTERESTS
No information available about interests outside of motocross racing.
EARLY SUCCESS
Turner’s rapid rise through amateur motocross was marked by her ability to compete successfully in both female-specific and co-ed classes. She won multiple championships in Girls (11-16), Women’s 12+, and Supermini 2 categories while still a teenager. Her breakthrough moment came when she began competing against male riders in the 250 B Limited class, finishing 19th overall with top-10 moto finishes at Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Motocross, proving she could hold her own in traditionally male-dominated racing.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2024: WMX National Champion, winning 9 out of 12 motos despite returning from a fractured back[1].
- 2024: Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Champion in Girls (11-16) and Women’s 12+ classes with flawless 1-1-1 moto scores[2].
- 2024: Four championship wins at Mini O’s in both Supercross and Motocross portions[3].
- 2024: Baja Brawl champion in Women’s 12+ and 2nd overall in Supermini 2 class[4].
- 2025: Defended WMX title with second consecutive championship, winning 9 of 12 motos and clinching with 289 points[5].
INSPIRATIONS
Turner names Ashley Fiolek, the former female motocross champion, as her hero and primary source of inspiration. She’s motivated by the desire to race with “the big guys” and break gender barriers in competitive motocross, using setbacks as fuel for her competitive fire.
REPUTATION
Widely regarded as a prodigious talent and rising star in women’s motocross, Turner has earned praise for her remarkable consistency and resilience. The AMA Deputy Director of Racing called her “terrific all season” and noted her as a “regular presence on the podium.” Her ability to return quickly from serious injuries—including a fractured back that sidelined her for six months—and immediately dominate upon her return has established her as a role model for aspiring female racers. She’s credited as a leading figure in the current WMX resurgence and maintains positive relationships within the Altus Motorsports team and broader motocross community.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Turner remains focused on competing in Pro Nationals and aims to race professionally in both Supercross and outdoor motocross series. As she puts it, her goal is to “race with the big guys in Supercross outdoors” and “do supercross like everyone else.” She continues to compete with Altus Motorsports bLU cRU Yamaha amateur racing team while preparing for the transition to professional racing against male competitors in higher displacement classes.
