Megan Meyer is a two-time NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion, record holder, and the winningest female driver in Top Alcohol Dragster history—a title she earned before stepping away from competition at the peak of her game to focus on family and her thriving motorsports marketing business.

EARLY YEARS

Born June 10, 1993, in Spring Hill, Kansas, Megan Meyer literally grew up at the drag strip. Her father, Randy Meyer, had been chasing the NHRA series since 1978, and from day one, she was trackside, watching, learning, and absorbing the rhythm of racing life. It wasn’t long before she wanted in on the action herself. In 2004, at just 11 years old, she climbed into a Junior Dragster and immediately showed she had the goods—earning Rookie of the Year honors in her first season. That’s right: her very first season. The kid didn’t waste time making an impression.

By 2011, she’d graduated from the Junior Dragster League and moved up to piloting a Super Comp Dragster full-time, competing in divisional races alongside her dad. Racing wasn’t just a hobby in the Meyer household; it was a family operation. And Megan wasn’t there to play second fiddle—she was there to win.

OTHER INTERESTS

Off the track, Meyer is as sharp as she is behind the wheel. She attended Pittsburg State University in Southeastern Kansas (Go-Rillas!), where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Marketing Management. Her education wasn’t just for show—she put it to work immediately, blending her love of racing with a knack for business and branding. Beyond wrenching on cars and designing marketing materials, she’s also a champion for the Slow Down Move Over campaign and serves on the board of the Shift Up Now Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering women in motorsports. She’s a wife, a mother to a son named Henry, and currently serves as Team Manager for Randy Meyer Racing. Oh, and she briefly joined Herbalife as a Health and Wellness Coach, because apparently, she doesn’t believe in downtime.

EARLY SUCCESS

In 2015, Megan made the leap to Top Alcohol Dragster, one of the most competitive and unforgiving classes in drag racing. She debuted her career in the category in 2016, and it didn’t take long for the racing world to realize she was the real deal. That same year, she was named NHRA Division 5 Rookie of the Year, and she followed it up by earning Division 5 Pro-Sportsman Driver of the Year honors three years in a row. She also snagged Best Appearing Car in Gainesville and Best Appearing Crew honors in Charlotte—proof that the Meyer team wasn’t just fast, they showed up looking good, too.

Her natural talent behind the wheel, combined with her father’s world-class tuning, made for a formidable combination. The wins started stacking up, and by 2019, she was ready to make history.

INSPIRATIONS

Randy Meyer, her father and seven-time Division 5/Central Region World Champion, is Megan’s most obvious inspiration. She learned everything from him—how to read a track, how to tune a car, how to handle pressure, and how to win with class. Racing alongside him for years gave her a front-row seat to what it takes to succeed at the highest level. The respect between them is mutual, and their partnership became one of the most successful father-daughter teams in drag racing history. Beyond her dad, Megan has always been motivated by proving that women belong in the driver’s seat—literally. Her success has opened doors for other female racers and shown that talent, not gender, determines who stands in the winner’s circle.

REPUTATION

Meyer is respected not just for her driving ability, but for how she carries herself. She’s professional, approachable, and incredibly savvy when it comes to the business side of racing. Her ability to secure major sponsors like NGK Spark Plugs (a three-year title sponsorship), Menards, and Dot’s Pretzels speaks to her understanding that racing is as much about relationships and marketing as it is about speed. She’s also known for her clean, consistent driving style and her meticulous attention to detail—traits that helped her break records and dominate a class that doesn’t forgive mistakes. After retirement, she launched Motorsports Marketing Tips, a full-service agency designed to help racers understand what it takes to secure paying sponsors. She’s building her reputation as someone who doesn’t just race; she helps others succeed, too.

FUTURE GOALS/PLANS

Officially retired from full-time competition since 2020, Megan has shifted her focus to family, business, and mentorship. She’s raising her son, Henry, and introducing him to the sport just like her father did for her. She continues to serve as Team Manager for Randy Meyer Racing, helping guide the family operation into the future. Her sister, Rachel Meyer, took over driving duties in the NTK Sensors A/Fuel Dragster, keeping the Meyer name alive on the track. While Megan made a triumphant one-off return at the 2024 IHRA Nitro Chaos—where she promptly won—she’s made it clear her priorities lie elsewhere now. Through Motorsports Marketing Tips and her work with the Shift Up Now Foundation, she’s committed to helping the next generation of racers build sustainable careers. Don’t count her out completely, though. If there’s one thing Megan Meyer has proven, it’s that she knows how to make an entrance when it counts.
