FULL BIO: Shi Wei
Shi Wei is a talented Chinese racing driver who has risen through the ranks of Asian motorsports, establishing herself as a competitive force in touring car and GT racing.
EARLY YEARS
Born in 1995 in Shanghai, China, Shi grew up immersed in automotive culture thanks to her father’s local garage. At age 8, she was introduced to karting, and by 10, she had won her first local championship while competing against older boys. Wei’s older brother, also a kart racer, served as both rival and mentor, helping develop her technical skills and overtaking abilities.
EARLY SUCCESS
The gritty, hands-on environment of her family’s garage helped develop Wei’s mechanical intuition and problem-solving skills, giving her a competitive edge as she advanced through the racing ranks. Her early karting victories against older competitors established her reputation for fearlessness and technical proficiency, traits that would define her later professional career.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2018: Won the Super Cup class in the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) at the Shanghai International Circuit[1].
- 2019: Secured a podium finish in the Asian Le Mans Series’ 4 Hours of Shanghai with Eurasia Motorsport[2].
- 2020: Competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, achieving multiple top-five finishes[3].

- 2022: Participated in the Macau Grand Prix’s GT Cup, finishing 8th overall[5].
- 2023: Tested with Algarve Pro Racing in the European Le Mans Series pre-season sessions[6].
REPUTATION
Shi has built a reputation for versatility across different racing disciplines, from touring cars to GT racing. Her ability to adapt to various vehicle types while maintaining competitive performances has made her one of China’s most promising racing talents. Following her 2023 campaign with Smart Life Racing in the TCR Asia Series, where she claimed three top-five finishes, Wei has demonstrated consistent growth in her racing career.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Wei aims to compete in international GT3 series such as the Intercontinental GT Challenge and plans to advocate for sustainable racing technologies, particularly hydrogen-powered racing. By 2025, she intends to launch a scholarship supporting young Asian drivers, especially women, seeking to enter professional motorsport. Her long-term vision includes collaborating with manufacturers on “green innovation” projects by 2026.
