My dad kind of just went… there was no contact sport, couldn’t play basketball or anything, so he said, ‘let’s go and jump into a race car’. I was 14 so I just qualified for a licence, and it just went straight from there. No background karting experience or anything and jumped straight into a car.

FULL BIO: Summer Rintoule
Summer Rintoule is Australia’s rising motorsport star who skipped karting entirely and jumped straight into race cars at 14, making her mark as Triple Eight Race Engineering’s first female GT4 driver. Born in Queensland’s Hollywell in 2007, she’s quickly become one of the most promising young talents in Australian motorsport despite her unconventional late start.
EARLY YEARS
Born on May 3, 2007, in Hollywell, Queensland, Summer Rintoule had zero motorsport background when COVID-19 lockdowns changed her trajectory forever. With contact sports off the table during the pandemic, her father made a suggestion that would reshape her life: “let’s go and jump into a race car.” She was 14 and had just qualified for her racing license—no karting experience, no family racing tradition, just pure opportunity meeting teenage fearlessness. While she loved her first time behind the wheel, she admits her dad was “quite nervous” watching his daughter take to the track with such enthusiasm. Summer balanced her newfound racing passion with academics, studying Year 12 and a Diploma of Business at St Stephen’s College.
OTHER INTERESTS
Beyond the racetrack, Summer maintains her fitness through gym sessions and cycling, understanding that physical conditioning is crucial for racing performance. Her business studies reflect a practical approach to her future, ensuring she’s building skills that extend beyond motorsport. She works closely with simulator training to sharpen her racecraft, demonstrating the methodical approach that’s helped her adapt so quickly to competitive racing.
EARLY SUCCESS
Summer’s racing journey began in 2022 with Hyundai Excel regional enduro races—a far cry from the typical karting ladder most drivers climb. By 2023, she’d progressed to Toyota 86 racing, first competing in New Zealand before returning to Australia for the second-tier Scholarship and flagship GR Cup classes with Action Motorsport. Her rapid development caught the attention of Australia’s most successful Supercars team, Triple Eight Race Engineering, who signed her for their GT4 Australia program in 2025. The move made her the team’s first female driver in the series, marking a significant milestone in her career and Australian motorsport.
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
- 2022: Began racing career in Hyundai Excel regional enduro races.
- 2023-24: Competed in Toyota 86 Championships across New Zealand and Australia.
- 2025: Signed with Triple Eight Race Engineering as their first female GT4 Australia driver.
- 2025: Achieved podium finish as runner-up at Sydney Motorsport Park in GT4 competition.
- 2025: Nearly secured first race victory at Queensland Raceway, finishing less than a second behind the winner.
INSPIRATIONS
Summer credits her father as her primary inspiration for entering motorsport, though their pandemic-era decision to try racing was more practical than passionate initially. Her racing development has been guided by mentor “Robbo the Whisperer” from On The Pace and race engineer Scott Green, who provided crucial support during her Toyota 86 preparation. She values their expertise in helping her understand what to expect as she progresses through different racing series.
REPUTATION
Within Australian motorsport circles, Summer is regarded as a promising young talent who’s making remarkably rapid progress despite her late entry into racing. Media coverage consistently highlights her determination and quick adaptation to racing cars without the traditional karting foundation most drivers rely on. Her signing with Triple Eight—a team known for developing elite talent—speaks volumes about her potential and the respect she’s earned in the paddock. Industry observers see her as a trailblazer in Australian GT racing, particularly given her rapid rise through the ranks in just three years of competition.
FUTURE GOALS/PLANS
Currently competing in her rookie season of the Monochrome GT4 Australia series Silver Cup class with Triple Eight Race Engineering, Summer is focused on securing her first race victory while driving the Mercedes-AMG GT4. Her strong 2025 performances, including multiple competitive showings at Phillip Island, Sydney Motorsport Park, and Queensland Raceway, suggest bigger opportunities may be on the horizon. With 49 race starts under her belt and growing confidence in GT4 machinery, she’s positioning herself for continued progression up the Australian motorsport ladder.
