Taylor Hagler has risen from equestrian competitor to championship-winning race car driver, becoming the first female champion in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR series.
EARLY YEARS
Though not from a traditional racing family, Taylor was influenced by her father Scott’s passion for motorsports from age five or six when he introduced her to NASCAR. Initially focused on equestrian jumping for 12 years due to financial constraints, her path changed in 2015 at age 19 when she used her sister Crystal’s unused gift certificate to attend the Skip Barber Racing School at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, marking her transition from horse jumping to auto racing.
EARLY SUCCESS
Taylor began her competitive racing journey in 2018 in the NASA Texas Spec Miata championship, finishing an impressive 5th place out of 69 drivers and earning Rookie of the Year honors. Her rapid progression continued with her first win at Road Atlanta with SCCA and first pole position at MSR Houston with NASA in early 2019. That same year, she made her professional debut in the SRO TC America Series, securing podium finishes at Circuit of the Americas and Watkins Glen, culminating in 5th place in the TC America TCA Driver’s Championship.
