The numbers behind that: Russell qualified on a 1:14.679 in 2026. Abbi Pulling took F1 Academy pole at the same circuit on a 1:41.396 — 35.8 percent slower per lap. Roll those two lap times forward against each other and the catch happens on lap 3.8.

The circuit is the real thing: the grey line is Barcelona taken from Formula 1 position telemetry, not a drawing. Both machines run their own genuine average pace around it. Nothing here is modelled or estimated — it is two published lap times, raced against each other on a real map.

What makes this worth measuring is that the answer is not obvious. A F1 Academy car is not slow. It is one of the quickest things on any circuit anywhere in the world, and it still loses a full lap in under 4. The F1 Academy time is from 2025, because the 2026 running of that event had not taken place when this was made — the card says so.
