The Palisade debuted in 2018 with its platform sibling, the Kia Telluride. It wasn’t Hyundai’s first attempt at a three-row SUV (the Santa Fe XL and Hyundai Veracruz existed before it), but it was the brand’s big push on the American market.

Hyundai’s USA arm said after the Palisade’s debut that it was the brand’s new flagship. In the old days, it would’ve been a sedan — but in 2010s and 2020s America, flagships are now big, beefy SUVs. Since their debuts, the Palisade and Telluride have taken the American car market by storm.

The new Palisade debuted at the New York International Auto Show in early 2025, with a bunch of changes from the old SUV. It’s bigger, and it also trades out the old, rounded, 2010s-era design with this boxier one. The SUV has two powertrain options for 2026: The powertrain we drove last year was a 3.5-liter V6 internal-combustion engine with an estimated 287 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque, and 5,000-pound towing capacity. The one we’re driving in this video is a 2.5-liter, turbocharged hybrid powertrain with an estimated 329 horsepower, 339 pound-feet, and a 4,000-pound towing capacity. Production is in Ulsan, South Korea.

There are a ton of trims and price levels on the 2026 Palisade. We start with the base model, which is a front-wheel-drive SE V6 and starts at $39,435 USD. The base-model SEL hybrid is also FWD and starts at $44,160, or less than $5,000 more than the base V6. The XRT Pro off-road trim is all-wheel drive with the V6. The fanciest V6 Palisade is an all-wheel-drive trim called the Calligraphy, and it starts at $54,560. The fanciest hybrid Palisade is also an AWD Calligraphy, and it starts at $56,780. (The top trims have actually gone down in price since the Palisade debuted.)

In this review, we’ll talk about: on-road ride and drive quality; interior styling and quality (the coffee-colored seats!); exterior styling; driver-assist features for normal driving and highway/interstate travel; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-row features; cargo space; sunroof styling; choice as a long-term family vehicle; and more.

The Hyundai Palisade is practical, stylish, and luxurious — all for the price of a normal 3-row SUV, not a luxury one. It rocks. Maybe even as hard as a minivan.
