Back in 2012, we were at Ferrari fighting for a championship with Fernando. A Lap 1 DNF at Suzuka and a Seb Vettel win cost us bad. After the race, he posted a line about adapting when the situation shifts. As a strategist, that always stayed with me.

Because Suzuka has never been just one challenge.
Some years it’s tyres. Some years it’s weather. In 2026, it’s energy.
From the data, the story is clear. The cars still carry speed, but they can’t sustain it. The lap builds, then fades, especially from Spoon through 130R.

So the question changes.
It’s no longer just how fast you are. It’s where you choose to be fast.

I’ve had so many different races here, wet, dry, good, bad (and the darkest day back in 2014). And while 2026 looks different, at its core it hasn’t changed.
Suzuka is still a challenge.
