Video Description from YouTube:

From driving for her family’s butcher business in Italy to making history on the Formula One grid, Lella Lombardi’s story is one of determination, resilience, and breaking through expectations.

Starting her racing career in local Italian series after buying her first race car in 1965, Lombardi steadily worked her way through Formula Monza, Formula 3, the Italian Formula 850 series, and Formula 5000 — earning every opportunity through talent and persistence rather than major financial backing or manufacturer support.

By 1974, she had opened the door to Formula One machinery through privateer entries and became the first female driver to qualify and compete in the Race of Champions at Brands Hatch. Just a year later, she made global motorsport history by becoming the only woman ever to score points in a Formula One World Championship race at the 1975 Spanish Grand Prix.

But Lombardi’s impact reached beyond statistics. Competing in what she herself viewed as a masculine sport, she succeeded through sheer competitive spirit and determination, becoming a symbol of what was possible without a traditional pathway into elite motorsport.

This is the story of a driver who proved there are alternative routes into Formula One — and that grit, resilience, and belief can force open doors that were never designed to be accessible.
