Maddi Gordon, the 23rd woman in NHRA history to qualify in Top Fuel, got the first round win of her rookie campaign with a huge conquest of one of her driving mentors, 2025 championship runner-up and No. 2 qualifier Shawn Langdon, who smoked the tires alongside her 3.762.

“I heard him pull the tires loose, and I seriously said ‘Holy … something’ inside the car, and we were going good,” she said. “Man, this is what dreams are made of. This is amazing.”
