Video Description from YouTube:

We’re excited to share the initial chapter of Mary McGee’s incredible journey, a true pioneer among “women racers.” In November 1957, this remarkable “female driver” began her “motorsport” career, winning races in a Mercedes 300 SL. Her consistent victories in “classic cars” quickly garnered media attention, challenging the norms of her era. After conquering Sport Car Racing, she moved on to Motorcycles. Starting first with road racing she was the first female to acquire a FIM License in 1960 winning her way up to the Number 20 Plate. Mary was also the first woman to compete in the “Baja 1000” and “Baja 500” racing events. Mary’s crowing moment came in 1975 when she rode a 1975 Husqvarna 250 CR-GP Solo. Mary McGee became the first person to Iron Man this grueling race – Man or Woman. This video kicks off a series exploring her enduring legacy and the captivating “car stories” behind her racing prowess.
