Video Description from YouTube:

Let’s test drive and review the 2026 Toyota Crown! And thanks to @homefieldapparel for sponsoring this video!

The 2026 Toyota Crown sedan is part of a new age for Toyota. Gone are the Avalon sedans and Venza SUVs, and in their place is a single brand name: Crown. Crown is Toyota’s longest-running nameplate worldwide at about 70 years old, and it was a big deal last century. But to a lot of U.S. buyers, it’s new.

Now and in the future, the Toyota Crown brand will be a class of cars, kind of like how the Ford Mustang is now a muscle car and an electric SUV. The Crown sedan came first, replacing the Avalon. Then, the Crown Signia crossover/estate/wagon took over for the Venza.

The Crown nameplate returned to the American market for the 2023 model year. Toyota called it a sedan, but its proportions — a little tall, a little bulky — made it look like a bizarre mix between a saloon and a crossover. The new Crown had standard all-wheel drive two powertrain options, both of them hybrids. The “performance” variant was the Hybrid Max with a combined 340 horsepower, and the regular one was a 236-horsepower hybrid. Tons of new Toyota models are full of hybrid technology; the Camry, RAV4, Highlander, and Corolla area a few.

This is the regular hybrid powertrain. It’s a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine and non-plug-in hybrid system make a combined 236 horsepower, and that power goes to all four wheels with electronic on-demand all-wheel drive.

This 2026 Toyota Crown only has four trims. The base is called the XLE and starts at U.S. $41,440. The next trim is the Limited, which starts at $45,950. The Nightshade Edition, which this car is, is an offshoot of the Limited and starts at $48,765. It’s an appearance grade with 21-inch matte-black wheels, dark badging, dark window trim, black door handles, black mirror caps, and other black exterior accents. Then comes the top Platinum trim, which starts at $54,990. It has the 340-horsepower hybrid powertrain.

The Nightshade comes in two colors: black and Storm Cloud gray. This is Storm Cloud. After options and fees, this particular car costs U.S. $50,734, which is just slightly more than the average price of a new car in America at the time of this video.

In this video, we’ll talk about all kinds of things: how the Crown rides and drives; the interior; exterior; infotainment system; comfort; driver assistance; whether it’s good for a road trip or not; interesting features; what to expect as an owner; whether it’s worth it long-term to buy a Crown over a Camry; things that are great and things that are a royal pain; and more.

Thanks for watching my YouTube channel. Enjoy the drive (and the video)!
