ANTONELLA BASSANI showed her mettle with a brilliant recovery drive at Estoril, climbing from sixth back to fifth after early contact shuffled her down the order. The former Porsche Sprint Challenge champion set the fastest lap of the race while hunting down competitors in the closing stages, completing a stunning switchback move on the final lap to seal her second top-five finish of the season.
Starting from the second row after qualifying third, BASSANI initially stayed with polesitter Marçal Muller before getting caught in Turn 1 carnage that dropped her to sixth. Rather than settling, she methodically picked off rivals one by one, using strategic positioning and pure pace to work her way back through the field in what proved to be a masterclass in racecraft.
Race 2 delivered heartbreak despite BASSANI running competitively in the points-paying positions throughout the chaotic sprint race. Multiple safety car periods kept the field bunched up, but a technical issue with one lap remaining forced her retirement just as she was battling for position.
