JAMIE CHADWICK’s Brilliant Spa Run Crushed by Harsh Post-Race Penalty Call

August 25, 2025

GRRL! SUMMARY:

  • JAMIE CHADWICK delivered another masterclass at Spa, helping drive the #18 IDEC Sport Oreca from sixth on the grid to second place on track through a chaotic 4-hour race filled with safety cars. Her opening stint was particularly impressive, jumping from sixth to fifth at the start and holding off pressure while consistently running strong 2:03.8 lap times. The three-time W Series champion showed exactly why she’s been such a revelation in LMP2 this season.
  • The race turned into a nightmare scenario when officials handed IDEC Sport a brutal three-minute penalty for entering pit lane after an FCY announcement, dropping them from a well-earned second place to 12th and outside the points. It’s the kind of technical penalty that feels particularly harsh when you consider how brilliantly CHADWICK and teammates Daniel Juncadella and Mathys Jaubert drove through treacherous conditions and multiple restarts to earn that podium position.
  • Despite this setback, CHADWICK sits third in championship standings with 50 points, just 26 behind the leaders with rounds still to come. The upcoming Silverstone round could be her moment to strike back – she’s one of the few drivers with serious experience at the track, and after proving she can run at the front consistently this season, we’re expecting her to use that home advantage to maximum effect in her impressive rookie LMP2 campaign.
